Most soft shackles are short loops meant to connect two nearby points. This one is about 3 meters (9.8 feet) of 11 mm UHMWPE rope, which turns it into a bridge for the situations where a standard shackle simply does not reach. It can loop around a large mount or span a wide gap between your vehicle and the anchor, so you carry one piece of gear instead of improvising with extra straps.
It is rated at 15,000 kg (33,069 lbs). Because synthetic rope stores far less energy than a steel shackle, there is much less of a projectile to worry about if a recovery point lets go. An abrasion-resistant outer sheath shields the load-bearing fibers from rocks, sharp edges and grit, and a built-in reflective tracer helps you keep track of the rigging after dark. The rope floats, so a dropped shackle in a bog hole is not lost, and it will not scratch paint the way chain can.
