About ARB

ARB started in a small Melbourne garage, building bull bars by hand. Roughly fifty years later it is Australia's largest maker and distributor of 4x4 accessories, with offices in the USA, Europe and the Middle East and products shipped to more than 100 countries.

The catalog runs from bumpers and Old Man Emu suspension to rooftop tents, drawers and recovery gear. The thing most off-roaders connect with the name, though, is the Air Locker, ARB's air-actuated selectable locker, and the compressors ARB builds to run it.

What we carry from ARB

Our ARB lineup is focused on on-board air: the CKMA12 single-motor compressor and the CKMTA12 twin-motor compressor. Both are 12-volt and universal, so they go in any rig with a sensible mounting spot and a battery to feed them.

Each kit ships with a wiring loom that has Air Locker solenoid plug-in terminals, so the compressor connects straight to ARB lockers without a science project. Building around a locker? Our lockers section covers the drivetrain side, and recovery gear covers the rest of the trip.

How to choose

The decision comes down to how much air you actually use. Lockers sip it; big tires and air tools gulp it.

  • CKMTA12 twin: two motors and much higher airflow. The pick if you run air tools or air up large tires after every trail day.
  • CKMA12 single: the smaller unit. Plenty for Air Locker actuation and occasional tire top-ups, and easier to find room for.
  • Mounting: pick a spot away from water and heat. Both kits include relocatable splash-resistant air filters, so the intake can live somewhere cleaner than the compressor.

Lead times & shipping

In-stock ARB items ship from NVMOS in 24–48 hours. Some items ship direct from the brand or are built to order, so check the product page for current availability or give us a call. Our current lead times page lists the latest estimates across brands.

ARB warranty

ARB-branded products, including these compressors, carry 3 years with unlimited miles for personal use, and Air Lockers carry 5 years. Wear items such as bushes, bearings and gas struts get 1 year or 25,000 miles, and commercial use has its own limits. Keep your receipt, and contact ARB before you pull a suspect part off the vehicle. Read the full ARB warranty summary.

ARB FAQs

Where is ARB based?

ARB is an Australian company that began in a Melbourne garage. It now has a U.S. office and sells its gear in more than 100 countries.

How long is the warranty on ARB compressors?

ARB-branded products like the on-board compressors carry 3 years with unlimited miles for personal use, or 3 years or 60,000 miles for commercial use. Proof of purchase is required.

How fast will my ARB compressor ship?

In-stock ARB compressors ship from NVMOS in 24–48 hours. Some items ship direct from the brand, so check the product page or call for a current estimate.

Should I get the single or twin ARB compressor?

The twin CKMTA12 moves much more air, which matters for air tools and fast tire inflation. The single CKMA12 is smaller and handles locker actuation and occasional top-ups.

What comes in the ARB CKMTA12 kit?

An assembled and tested twin compressor, a full wiring loom with Air Locker solenoid terminals, an isolating switch, two relocatable air filters with washable sintered bronze elements, mounting hardware and an illustrated install guide.

Do I need an ARB compressor to run an ARB Air Locker?

Air Lockers need a compressed air source to engage. ARB designs its on-board compressors for that job, and they inflate tires too.
