Ram 1500 Lift Kits and Leveling Kits: What Fits Your Truck
A Ram 1500 lift kit can be anything from a 2-inch front spacer that takes the factory rake out to a 6-inch kit with new knuckles and crossmembers. What actually fits depends on your generation, your drivetrain, whether your truck has factory air suspension and the tires you want to run. This guide sorts it out by truck, with the leveling kits, coilover systems and lift kits NVMOS carries.
Short answer: First confirm whether you have a 2009–2018 (Classic body) or 2019-and-newer Ram 1500, and whether it has air suspension. For a level stance on 2019–2026 coil-spring trucks, a 2-inch front leveling kit is the simplest option. For 35-inch tires, ReadyLIFT lists its 3.5-inch SST kits. For 37s, look at the 6-inch kits. TRX and RHO trucks need their own parts.
Leveling kit, coilovers or full lift: what each one does
From the factory, most Ram 1500s sit lower in the front than the rear. That rake leaves room for the rear to squat under a load or a trailer. The three ways to raise the truck do very different amounts of work. Our leveling kit vs lift kit guide covers the basics in more depth.
- Leveling kit. Spacers on top of the front struts, or pre-load spacers under the spring, raise the front about 1.5 to 2 inches to match the rear. The factory shocks and springs stay. A rear spacer can add height at the back if you want more rake for towing.
- Coilover suspension system. Replaces the front struts with adjustable coilovers and usually the rear shocks too. Lift is set by the coilover and is often a range, like 0–1.5 inches or 2–3 inches. The main reason to buy one is ride control and wheel travel, not height.
- Full lift kit. Kits in the 3.5- to 6-inch range change more of the truck: upper control arms, rear spacers or springs, and on taller kits, new knuckles, crossmembers and skid plates. This is where 35- and 37-inch tires come in.
| Option | Typical front lift (as listed) | What changes | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Front leveling kit | 1.5–2 in | Spacers only, factory shocks stay | Level stance, slightly bigger tires |
| Leveling kit with upper arms | 2 in | Spacers plus new upper control arms | Leveling with corrected ball joint angle |
| Coilover system | 0–1.5 in or 2–3 in | Front coilovers, rear shocks, sometimes arms and rear coils | Ride quality and off-road damping |
| Mid lift (SST) | 3.5 in front, 2 in rear | Upper arms, strut spacers, rear spacer | 35-inch tires on a daily driver |
| Big lift | 6 in | Knuckles, crossmembers, shocks, skid plate | 37-inch tires and a tall stance |
Ram 1500 lift kits by generation
Model year alone is not enough. Ram kept selling the older body as the Ram 1500 Classic after the new truck came out in 2019, so a 2019-or-newer truck can be either body. Several kits below say plainly that they are not for the Classic body. Check your registration or door sticker, and if in doubt, look at the body: the Classic carries over the 2009–2018 cab and grille design.
2009–2018 Ram 1500 (4th gen and Classic body)
For this generation, most of what we carry is listed for 4WD trucks. ICON offers its Stage 1 through Stage 5 systems with 0.75–2.5 inches of adjustable lift. Stage 1 pairs 2.5-inch front coilovers with ICON 2.0 Aluminum Series rear shocks; Stage 5 moves to 2.5 Aluminum Series rear shocks with CDC valve adjustment. For a simple level, Fishbone Offroad lists a 2-inch steel leveling kit for 2009–2020 Ram 1500 4WD, and ICON Alloys lists a 2-inch fabricated steel front spacer kit for 2009–2018 4WD that it says allows 33-inch tires. If your 2019 or 2020 truck is a Classic, confirm on the product page that the kit covers your body.
2019–2026 Ram 1500 (5th gen, coil spring)
This is where most of the choice is. The 5th gen uses a composite factory upper control arm, and ReadyLIFT says the stress at the ball joint was too great for a plain strut extension. That is why its leveling kits either use pre-load spacers or come with new tubular steel upper arms. Options run from the 2-inch leveling kits to ICON coilover systems (0–1.5 inch and 2–3 inch ranges), the 3.5-inch ReadyLIFT SST kits and the 6-inch kits.
2019–2024 Ram 1500 with factory air suspension
Air suspension changes the list a lot. The ReadyLIFT 2-inch tubular arm leveling kit, the 3.5-inch SST kits and the 6-inch MAX3.3 system are all listed as not for air suspension trucks. ReadyLIFT makes separate 6-inch kits for 2019–2024 trucks with factory air suspension, including versions for trucks with factory 22-inch wheels, and a 1.5-inch SST upper control arm pair for 2019–2026 trucks equipped with rear air. The air suspension 6-inch kit is also listed as not for TRX or Rebel air ride.
2021–2024 Ram TRX and 2025–2026 Ram RHO
The TRX and RHO have their own long-travel front suspension, and regular Ram 1500 kits list them as not compatible. ReadyLIFT makes a 1.5-inch pre-load spacer leveling kit for the 2021–2026 TRX only (it says it does not fit RHO trucks). ICON Alloys lists a front coilover spacer kit for 2021–2024 TRX and 2025–2026 RHO with 0.625–2.125 inches of lift that, per ICON, keeps the factory active damping working. ICON also offers billet front upper control arms and rear hydraulic bump stops for these trucks.
Ram 1500 2-inch lift and leveling options
A 2-inch front level is the most common first step. On a 2019–2026 truck, ReadyLIFT gives you two ways to do it, and they ride differently.
- Pre-load spacer kit (2WD or 4WD). Billet aluminum spacers sit under the spring, so there is no added stress on the ball joint. ReadyLIFT says it rides firmer than factory and needs a spring compressor to install.
- Strut extension with tubular upper arms (4WD). Billet strut extensions plus DOM tube steel upper arms with corrected ball joint angle cups. ReadyLIFT points to this kit for factory ride and handling. It is listed for 4WD trucks including the Rebel, but not air suspension, factory pre-leveled or off-road package trucks, or the TRX and RHO.
- Rear 2-inch spacer. If you want the rear higher too, or more rake for towing on a stock or leveled 5th gen, ReadyLIFT sells the same rear spacer used in its 3.5-inch kit on its own.
ReadyLIFT lists a max tire of 285/65-20 on a 20x9 +18 wheel with either of its 2-inch front kits. If you want a true 2-inch lift with better damping instead of a level, the ICON 2–3 inch coilover systems are the next step up.
Coilover systems: ICON stages explained
ICON sells its Ram 1500 coilover systems in stages. Each stage adds parts on top of the one below it, so the parts list grows with each stage while the lift range stays the same. For the 2019–2026 truck, there are two lift ranges.
| ICON system (2019–2026) | Front lift | Rear | What sets it apart |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0–1.5 in Stage 1 | 0–1.5 in adjustable | 2.0 Aluminum Series shocks | Front coilovers and rear shocks only |
| 0–1.5 in Stage 2 and 3 | 0–1.5 in adjustable | 1.5 in dual-rate rear coils | Stage 3 steps up to 2.5 piggyback rear shocks |
| 0–1.5 in Stage 4 and 5 (tubular UCA) | 0–1.5 in adjustable | 1.5 in dual-rate rear coils | Adds Delta Joint upper arms; Stage 5 has CDCV rear shocks |
| 2–3 in Stage 1 to 4 | 2–3 in adjustable | Stage 2 and up add 1.5 in rear coils | Billet or tubular Delta Joint upper arms; Stage 4 has CDCV remote reservoir coilovers |
If you already have a lift and only want better damping, ICON also sells the front coilovers and rear shocks on their own, plus a rear dual-rate coil spring kit that adds 1.5 inches of rear lift on 2009–2026 Ram 1500s. Check that the shock is listed for your lift range before ordering.
Bigger tires: 35s and 37s
Tire size is the real reason most people lift a Ram. Here is what the vendors list for the kits we carry. Wheel width and offset matter as much as the lift, so read our wheel offset and backspacing guide before you buy wheels.
- 2-inch leveling (2019–2026). 285/65-20 on a 20x9 +18.
- 3.5-inch SST and SST 2.1 (2019–2026). Up to a 35-inch tire on a 20x9 at 0 offset; ReadyLIFT lists a 35x12.50 for the SST 2.1.
- 6-inch kits (2019–2024). 37x12.50 on a 20x9 at 0 offset with no trimming. ReadyLIFT lists a 37x12.50 on a 20x10 -18 with trimming on some kits. 18-inch wheels cannot be used.
- TRX 1.5-inch leveling. 35x12.50 on a 20x9 +18.
Larger tires add weight and change your effective gearing, and the speedometer will read off until it is recalibrated. These are general effects; how much you notice depends on the tire and the truck.
What to check before you order
- Body style. Classic or 2019-and-newer. ReadyLIFT kits for the new body say they are not for the Classic.
- Air suspension. Factory air trucks need air-specific kits. The ReadyLIFT 2-inch tubular arm leveling kit and the 3.5-inch SST kits are listed as not for air.
- 2WD or 4WD. Several kits are 4WD only, including the ICON 2009–2018 systems and the ReadyLIFT 2-inch tubular arm kit.
- Factory wheel size. On the 6-inch kits, trucks that came with 22-inch wheels need the big bore knuckle versions.
- Engine. The ReadyLIFT 6-inch kits list exclusions for diesel and for the 3.0L Hurricane in some late 2024 trucks. Single cab is listed as not validated.
- Factory lift or off-road package. ReadyLIFT notes pre-lifted or off-road package trucks may net less lift, and some kits exclude them.
After the install: alignment, warranty and legal questions
- Alignment. Any lift or level changes your front geometry. Get an alignment after install, and have the headlight aim checked, as ReadyLIFT recommends. Kits with adjustable upper arms, like the ICON Delta Joint arms, give the shop more caster and camber range to work with.
- Factory warranty. A lift does not automatically void your whole warranty, but a dealer can deny a claim on a part they believe the lift affected. Ask your dealer before you install and keep your paperwork.
- Towing and payload. A leveling kit does not raise your factory ratings. Front leveling removes some of the room the truck had for rear squat under load, which is why some owners add a rear spacer.
- State rules. Lift height, bumper height and headlight height rules vary by state. ReadyLIFT notes that stacking spacers may be illegal in some states. Check your state before you go tall.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best lift kit for a Ram 1500?
There is no single best kit. It depends on your year and body style, whether your truck has air suspension, the tire size you want and how you use the truck. Pick the right generation first, then decide between a leveling kit, a coilover system or a full lift.
Will a 2 inch leveling kit fit 35s on a Ram 1500?
Usually not without other changes. ReadyLIFT lists a max tire of 285/65-20 on a 20x9 +18 wheel for its 2-inch front leveling kits on the 2019–2026 Ram 1500. Its 3.5-inch SST kits list room for a 35x12.50 on a 20x9 wheel at 0 offset.
Can you level a Ram 1500 with air suspension?
Check the fitment notes closely. The ReadyLIFT 2-inch tubular arm leveling kit and the 3.5-inch SST kits are listed as not for factory air suspension trucks. ReadyLIFT does make 6-inch kits built specifically for 2019–2024 Ram 1500s with factory air suspension, and 1.5-inch SST upper control arms for 2019–2026 trucks equipped with rear air.
Do I need an alignment after leveling my Ram 1500?
Yes. Any change in front ride height changes the alignment, and ReadyLIFT recommends an alignment and headlamp aim check after its leveling and spacer kits. Plan on getting it aligned soon after install.
Will a leveling kit void my Ram warranty?
Adding a leveling kit or lift does not automatically void your whole factory warranty, but the dealer can deny claims on parts they believe the modification affected. Ask your dealer before you install, and keep your receipts and install records.
Do Ram 1500 Classic lift kits fit the 2019 and newer Ram?
No. The Classic is the older 2009–2018 body, and the 2019-and-newer Ram 1500 is a different truck underneath. Most kits on this page are listed for one body or the other, so match the body style, not just the model year.
What lift kits fit the Ram TRX or RHO?
Very few regular Ram 1500 kits do. NVMOS carries TRX- and RHO-specific parts such as the ReadyLIFT 1.5-inch TRX leveling kit and the ICON Alloys front coilover spacer kit for the 2021–2024 TRX and 2025–2026 RHO. Most standard Ram 1500 kits list the TRX as not compatible.
