About King Shocks

King Shocks opened its doors in 1996, but Lance King had been drawing shock designs since the early 1980s for desert racers such as Bill Stroppe, Parnelli Jones and Walker Evans. Lance handled design and machining, his son Ross welded and fabricated and his son Brett ran sales. The company is still family owned and still in Garden Grove, California, where it machines every part from billet alloy in-house and has trained technicians assemble each shock by hand. New designs are tested on an electromagnetic shock dyno before they go to racers for development.

King builds race shocks, UTV shocks and its OEM Performance line of bolt-on kits for street-driven trucks and SUVs. The OEM Performance kits are valved and sprung from real-world testing, use larger shock bodies and external reservoirs for more fluid capacity and better heat control, and can be serviced and revalved with hand tools. King also rebuilds shocks at its own facility.

What we carry from King Shocks

We carry King's OEM Performance kits, not its race components or UTV shocks. That covers front and rear 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 diameter shocks with internal, piggyback, piggy hose or remote reservoirs, front coilovers with remote reservoirs, versions with adjusters, and bypass kits for trucks such as the Raptor, TRX, Tundra and Silverado. We also list King's vehicle-specific bump stop kits, steering stabilizers and a rear coil spring kit for the Land Cruiser 300. Shocks are sold as pairs unless the listing says each. Fitment covers the Jeep Wrangler TJ, JK and JL, Gladiator, Bronco, 4Runner, Tacoma, Tundra, Land Cruiser, Lexus GX, FJ Cruiser, F-150 and Raptor, Super Duty, Ranger, Silverado, Sierra, Colorado, Canyon, Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500, Frontier, Titan, Sprinter and Grenadier.

How to choose

Match your lift height: Many King kits, especially for the Wrangler, Gladiator and Land Cruiser 80, are built for a specific lift range such as 0-2, 3-5 or 6 inches. Measure your actual lift and order the kit for that range; if you fall between ranges, ask before ordering.

Check trim-specific fitment: Some kits are built for one trim or option, such as the 4Runner with KDSS, the Colorado ZR2, the Silverado Trail Boss, the Raptor or the TRX. Confirm your trim and drivetrain, 2WD or 4WD, before ordering.

Adjuster or not: Many King kits come in a standard version and a version with an adjuster for tuning damping, and a few larger kits add compression adjustment. If you carry different loads or split time between pavement and trail, the adjuster version is worth a look.

Pair or each: Most King shocks are sold as a pair, but some 2.0 Wrangler JL and Gladiator shocks are sold each. Check the listing so you order enough for both sides.

Plan for service: King shocks are rebuildable, and King offers factory rebuilds that replace seals and wear bands. Shocks on a truck that sees heavy trail use should be serviced on a regular schedule.

Lead times & shipping

NVMOS dropships King orders from the brand or its distributor. In-stock parts usually leave in 1-3 business days, and parts stocked at the manufacturer take about 1-2 weeks. Shocks, coilovers, bump stops and stabilizers ship by parcel carrier. We send tracking as soon as we have it.

King Shocks warranty

King Shocks warrants its products to be free from manufacturing defects for 90 days from the date of purchase. Plating, anodizing and other coatings are warranted only at the time of sale, since they can wear over time depending on the environment. The warranty does not cover crash damage, abuse, modified products, use with parts not made by King, lack of maintenance, or wrong dimensions or specifications supplied on a custom order. King leaves it to the buyer to decide whether a product suits the intended use. Every return to King needs a return authorization number, returns for any reason carry a 15% restocking fee, and King does not take returns after 90 days. King also rebuilds and services shocks at its facility. Read our King Shocks warranty summary.

How long is the King Shocks warranty?

Ninety days from the date of purchase against manufacturing defects. Coatings such as plating and anodizing are covered only at the time of sale.

Does the warranty cover crash or trail damage?

No. King excludes crash damage, abuse, modified products, use with non-King parts and lack of maintenance.

Which King kit do I need for my lift?

Many King kits are built for a lift range, such as 0-2, 3-5 or 6 inches. Order the one that matches your measured lift; if your setup falls between ranges, contact us before ordering.

Most are sold as a pair. Some 2.0 diameter Wrangler JL and Gladiator shocks are sold each, and the listing says which.

Is there a restocking fee on returns?

King charges a 15% restocking fee on returned shocks, does not accept returns after 90 days and does not take back scratched, damaged or custom parts.
