MAXTRAX Rope Dampener
A recovery rope stores a lot of energy, and if something lets go that energy goes somewhere. The MAXTRAX Rope Dampener is a weighted sleeve that hangs over the rope to absorb force if the rope breaks suddenly.
It is designed as part of the MAXTRAX Recovery System and fits to the rope loop alongside a MAXTRAX Fuse Shackle.
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Part number | MTXRD |
| Construction | Two weighted sleeves, a loop, and clips to close the sleeves |
| Weight medium | Sand or water bottles added on site |
| Compatible ropes | MAXTRAX Kinetic Rope, Static Rope, or Winch Rope |
| Required | MAXTRAX Fuse Shackle |
| Package size | 13.78 x 15.75 x 1.97 in |
| Caution | Tested only with the MAXTRAX Recovery System, not third-party products |
How do I set it up?
Inspect the dampener and Fuse Shackle, fill both sleeves with sand or water bottles, fold each sleeve edge over twice and clip it. Feed the Fuse Shackle through the dampener loop and the rope loop, tighten it beside the knot, then let the dampener hang over the rope.
Do I need a MAXTRAX Fuse Shackle?
Yes. MAXTRAX says you must use a Fuse Shackle in its Recovery System during any vehicle recovery. It is the intended weak link if the system is overloaded.
Will it work with other brands of rope?
MAXTRAX designed and tested it only with its own kinetic, static and winch ropes, not third-party products.
Where should it sit on the rope?
Near the Fuse Shackle, draped over the rope or hanging from it. Only connect the rope to rated recovery points.
