MAXTRAX FUSE Shackle
The FUSE Shackle is the deliberate weak link in the MAXTRAX Recovery System. Its minimum breaking strength is set lower and more precisely than a general soft shackle, at 15,432 lb (7,000 kg), so that if something has to let go, it is the shackle and not your recovery point or strap.
That matters because many recovery points and straps carry a lower MBS than a typical soft shackle. MAXTRAX states the FUSE should be used exclusively within its own system, and its rope instructions require a FUSE Shackle in every recovery.
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Part number | MTXFS |
| Minimum breaking strength | 15,432 lb (7,000 kg) |
| Role | Sacrificial weakest link in the MAXTRAX Recovery System |
| Compatibility | To be used exclusively with the MAXTRAX Recovery System |
Why would I want a shackle that breaks first?
So the failure happens at a known, replaceable part instead of at a recovery point or strap that may have a lower rating than a standard soft shackle.
What is it rated to?
A minimum breaking strength of 15,432 lb (7,000 kg).
Can I use it with other brands of recovery gear?
MAXTRAX states the FUSE should be used exclusively with the MAXTRAX Recovery System, which has not been tested with third-party products.
Do I still need a Core Shackle?
The Core is the general-use shackle for connecting and joining gear. The FUSE is the designated weak link, and MAXTRAX calls for one in every recovery.
