MAXTRAX Core Soft Shackle
The Core Shackle is the general-purpose soft shackle in the MAXTRAX Recovery System. It is made from Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight Polyethylene and polyester, rated to a minimum breaking strength of 14,000 kg (30,864 lb), and measures 21.5 inches (550 mm) long.
A braided outer sheath protects the shackle from abrasion and friction, which is where soft shackles usually wear first. MAXTRAX uses Core Shackles to connect ropes to hitches and rated recovery points, and to join ropes together.
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Part number | MTXCS |
| Minimum breaking strength | 14,000 kg / 30,864 lb |
| Length | 21.5 in (550 mm) |
| Material | Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight Polyethylene and polyester |
| Protection | Braided sheath against abrasion and friction |
| Role in system | General-use shackle; the FUSE Shackle is the sacrificial weak link |
What is the difference between the Core and FUSE shackles?
The Core is the general-use shackle rated to 14,000 kg. The FUSE has a lower, precise 7,000 kg rating and is meant to be the sacrificial weakest link in the system.
How long is it?
21.5 inches, or 550 mm.
Can I join two recovery ropes with it?
Yes. MAXTRAX recommends Core Shackles for joining its Kinetic, Static and Winch Ropes.
Do I need a FUSE Shackle with this?
MAXTRAX states that a MAXTRAX FUSE Shackle must be used in every recovery within the MAXTRAX Recovery System, and that the system has not been tested with third-party branded products.
