Coachbuilder Carrier Bearing Drop Kit | 0"–2" Rear Lift | Fits Toyota Tundra 2007–2021 | Ekstrom Design
A rear lift is the quickest way to level a 2007–2021 Toyota Tundra — and the quickest way to pick up the low-speed driveline shudder these trucks are known for. The Tundra runs a two-piece rear driveshaft supported by a center carrier bearing, and raising the rear changes the shaft's operating angles enough to set off vibration on takeoff. The Coachbuilder Carrier Bearing Drop Kit for 0”–2” of rear lift corrects it at the source: a pair of CNC-machined T6 6061 billet aluminum spacers installs between the frame support and the top of the carrier bearing, lowering the bearing to bring driveshaft angles back into line. It's a 10–15 minute job that reuses the factory bolts, sized for Tundras running leveling shackles or a mild rear lift up to 2”.
Features
- Pair of carrier bearing drop spacers, CNC machined from T6 6061 billet aluminum
- Engineered to eliminate driveline vibration after lifting the rear suspension
- Sized for 2007–2021 Tundras with 0”–2” of rear lift
- Installs between the frame support and the top of the carrier bearing
- Reuses the OE carrier bearing bolts — no extra hardware needed at this drop height
- Installs in 10–15 minutes; torque to 25 ft-lbs with the truck on the ground
- Made in the USA by Ekstrom Design & Fabrication
This kit matches the rear lift you get from a Coachbuilder +2” Shackle Kit or +3” Shackle Kit — order them together and head off the vibration before the first test drive. Running more than 2” out back? Step up to the 3”–4” or 5”–6” version instead, and browse the rest of our driveline components and Coachbuilder upgrades.
Coachbuilder Carrier Bearing Drop Kit | 0"–2" Rear Lift | Fits Toyota Tundra 2007–2021 | Ekstrom Design FAQs
How do I know if my Tundra needs a carrier bearing drop kit?
The classic symptom is a vibration or shudder on takeoff that appears after the rear of the truck is raised. Lifting the rear of a 2007-2021 Tundra changes the operating angles of its two-piece driveshaft at the center carrier bearing, and this kit lowers the bearing to bring those angles back into line. If the rear is still at stock height and the truck vibrates, have the driveline inspected first — this kit corrects lift geometry, not worn parts.
Which carrier bearing drop kit matches my lift height?
Match the kit to the actual rear lift on the truck. This version covers 0"-2" of rear lift — leveling shackles and mild spring setups on 2007-2021 Tundras. Coachbuilder also makes a 3"-4" kit and a 5"-6" kit for taller builds, so measure how much your rear sits above stock and buy the matching range.
Is this a hard install, and do I need new hardware?
No — plan on 10-15 minutes. The billet spacers install between the frame support and the top of the carrier bearing at the center of the rear driveline, and at this drop height the OE bolts are reused, so no extra hardware is needed. Torque everything to 25 ft-lbs with the truck sitting on the ground.
