Cold Air Intake Systems
Cold air intake systems for gas and diesel trucks, mostly from S&B with JLT and SXTH Element options. Fitment includes Ford F-150, Super Duty and Bronco, Ram 1500 and 2500/3500, Silverado and Sierra, and Colorado and Canyon. Confirm your exact year, engine and any supercharger, and note that some intakes list a tune requirement.
Cold Air Intake Systems FAQs
Is a cold air intake worth it on a stock truck?
For most drivers, yes — but for response and maintenance, not big power. A quality intake sharpens throttle feel, adds a serviceable filter, and can free a few horsepower on a naturally aspirated engine. The gains are modest, so treat it as a supporting mod alongside tuning and exhaust. If you expect a dramatic power jump from an intake alone, you'll be disappointed.
Sealed airbox or open cone intake for off-road?
Sealed airbox, almost always, for trail and overland use. An open cone breathes hot engine-bay air and sits exposed to dust, which is exactly what shortens engine life off-pavement. A sealed system draws cooler outside air through a protected filter, giving better consistency and protection. Open intakes make the best intake sound and can suit street trucks, but sealing wins where dust and water are in play.
Will a cold air intake void my warranty?
Not automatically — a manufacturer must prove the part caused the failure. Under U.S. law a dealer can't void your entire warranty just for adding an intake, but a related engine claim can be denied if the intake contributed. Keep your factory airbox, use a quality system, and service the filter properly. For peace of mind, choose a reputable brand and keep your documentation.
