DMOS

About DMOS

DMOS began in Jackson, Wyoming in 2015. Founder Susan Pieper kept watching cheap shovels break while her son built snow and dirt jumps, so she designed a better one.

That first shovel, the Stealth, launched on Kickstarter: a collapsible aluminum shovel that packs small enough to fit under a seat or in a recovery bag. DMOS now makes several shovel families plus mounts and bags, and it operates as part of Allsop, Inc. out of Bellingham, Washington.

What we carry from DMOS

The shovel lineup: Stealth, Stealth XL, Stealth X-Wide, Delta, Delta Pro, Compact Delta, Alpha and Nomad. Most of them earn their keep in the recovery gear category.

To carry them, we stock shovel and axe mounts for roof racks, roll bars and MOLLE panels, plus padded shovel bags and gear bags like the Ruck Bucket and Rally Bag. The DMOS hybrid axe, gear straps and a little apparel round it out.

How to choose

Decide where the shovel will ride, then pick the model and the mount that matches it.

• Inside the vehicle: Expedition Portal measured a collapsed Stealth at about 18 x 9 x 2.25 inches and 3.3 lb, small enough for under a seat or a recovery bag.
• Handle length: the Stealth locks at roughly 35, 47 and 57 inches, short for close digging and long for real shoveling.
• Mounts are model-specific. Match the mount to the shovel (Stealth, Stealth XL or Delta), and use the universal or Flat Mate mounts for MOLLE panels and flat surfaces.
• Use it as a shovel. Prying and chopping wood are excluded from the warranty, which is DMOS's polite way of saying bring a pry bar.

Lead times & shipping

In-stock DMOS gear ships from NVMOS in 24–48 hours. When an item ships direct from DMOS, the brand says orders go out the next business day, with weekend and holiday orders shipping the following business day. Check the product page or call if you need it before a trip.

DMOS warranty

Coverage depends on the product: Delta Pro, Delta and Delta Compact shovels carry a limited lifetime warranty; Stealth, Alpha and Nomad shovels, the mounts and the DMOS Axe get 3 years; bags and small accessories get 1 year. It covers defects in materials and workmanship for the original owner with proof of purchase, in the US and Canada. Read the full DMOS warranty summary.
