A Ford Bronco light bar can sit above the windshield, across the front bumper or in the grille opening. What fits depends on your top, your bumper and whether you have a Raptor.

Short answer: For the most reach on a 2021-and-newer Bronco, a 40- to 50-inch roof or windshield bar on the factory accessory mounts is the usual pick. For less wind noise and no hood glare, put a 30- to 39-inch bar or a six-light linkable kit on the front bumper, matched to your plastic or steel bumper. Add ditch lights at the A-pillars for side coverage. Wire it to the factory aux switches if your Bronco has them, and treat it as off-road lighting only.

Where a light bar goes on a 6th gen Bronco

The 2021-and-newer Bronco gives you three main places for a light bar, plus the A-pillars for pods.

Location Typical sizes listed Pros Watch for
Roof / above windshield 40 to 50 in Longest reach, light clears the hood Wind noise, glare off the hood, soft top limits
Front bumper 30 to 39 in, or six linkable lights No hood glare, quieter, easy to reach for cleaning Plastic vs steel bumper fitment, front camera view
Grille / fog area Six linked pods Clean look behind the bumper Usually needs the steel bumper
A-pillar / ditch Two 3- to 6-inch pods Lights the sides of the trail and corners Not a substitute for a forward bar

Most roof kits bolt to the Bronco's factory accessory mounting points above the windshield. DV8 says its 40-inch curved mount uses those points with no modifications. Westin says its XTS overhead mount bolts to the factory accessory-ready roof mounting points with no drilling, and lists it as 1.5-inch tubing that accommodates most LED lights.

Light bars by Bronco: 2- and 4-door, Raptor and Bronco Sport

Nearly every kit here is made for the 6th gen Bronco, sold from 2021 on.

2021–2026 Bronco (2-door and 4-door)

The roof kits here do not list a door-count restriction, and Baja Designs lists its 8XL Linkable roof kit for 2-door and 4-door Broncos. The top matters more than the door count. KC HiLiTES says its Gravity Titan overhead kit works with factory hardtops and soft tops, while DV8 does not recommend over-windshield mounts such as its 40-inch curved mount on soft tops because of wind noise. Some listings stop at 2024 or 2025, so confirm newer years on the product page.

Bronco Raptor (2022 and newer)

The Raptor has its own front bumper, so bumper kits need to list it. Baja Designs lists its roof kits and its steel bumper kit for the 2022–2026 Bronco Raptor, and notes that Raptor upfitter wiring has AUX1 and AUX3 switched. Cali Raised LED makes a Bumper Light Bar Mount for the 2022+ Bronco Raptor that it says takes single- or dual-row bars.

Bronco Sport and older Broncos

The Bronco Sport is a different vehicle, and these parts do not fit it. For the 1992–1996 Bronco, we carry ditch light brackets from Rago Fabrication, but no vehicle-specific light bar kits.

Roof and windshield light bars

A roof bar puts the light high, where it reaches farthest. You can buy a complete kit or a mount for a bar you already own.

Complete roof kits

Mounts only

If you already have a bar, match the mount to its length and shape. The DV8 40-Inch Curved Light Bar Mount takes one 40-inch curved bar or up to twelve 3-inch pods. Cali Raised LED's Roof Light Bar Mounting Kit is 10-gauge cold rolled steel for a 42-inch curved bar, and the Westin XTS Overhead Light Mount accepts most LED lights.

Bumper, grille and ditch lights

A bar on the bumper sits below the hood line, so there is no hood glare and much less wind noise. First, check which bumper your Bronco has.

Factory plastic bumper

The Baja Designs XL Linkable Bumper Light Kit for the OE plastic bumper mounts six linkable lights in Sport or Pro output. Each light aims independently, so the bar can run straight or follow the curve of the bumper.

Factory modular steel bumper

Baja makes a steel bumper version of the XL Linkable kit for the Bronco and Bronco Raptor, and notes that the bar may block part of the front-facing camera view. The KC HiLiTES FLEX ERA 30" Front Bumper Light Bar Kit uses three 10-inch segments you can link and curve, and KC lists 23,736 lumens with combo and spot lenses included. The KC HiLiTES Gravity LED Front Bumper Light Bar Kit carries a 39-inch 6-light bar on KC's bumper mount, but its listing does not say which factory bumper it fits, so confirm before ordering. Both KC kits are listed for 2021–2024 only, so 2025 and newer owners should confirm fitment on the product page. For a grille-area look, the Diode Dynamics SS5 Grille CrossLink Lightbar Kit joins six SS5 pods in the grille area of 2021–2025 Broncos with the steel bumper, in Sport or Pro power.

On aftermarket bumpers, look for a light mount made for that bumper, such as DV8's bull bar, which DV8 lists for its 2021–2023 Bronco MTO winch bumper. Our Ford Bronco front bumper guide covers the bumpers themselves.

Ditch and A-pillar lights

Ditch lights fill in the sides of the trail and the inside of turns that a bar does not reach. The KC HiLiTES Gravity Titan Ditch Light Kit uses wide-beam lights with an amber dust light mode on steel brackets at the factory mounting locations. The Diode Dynamics Stage Series SS3 Backlit Ditch Light Kit mounts two SS3 pods at the A-pillars of 2021–2025 Broncos on the factory Accessory Ready points. If you want to pick your own pods, the Addictive Desert Designs Dual Ditch Light Brackets hold two lights up to 4-inch round, or one 6-inch round, per side. See our ditch lights spot vs flood guide and LED pod lights buying guide for choosing pods, and the knuckle pod lights guide for steerable mounts.

Sizes, beam patterns and color

Here is what the vendors list for each kit.

Kit Location Size Beam and output as listed
RIGID Roof Line Light Kit Roof line 40 in Spot/flood combo, 25,080 raw lumens, 21° H x 18° V
KC Gravity Titan Overhead Windshield 50 in, 8 lights Combo
Baja Designs S8 roof kit Roof 50 in Driving/Combo, 5000K
Baja Designs XL Linkable roof kit Roof 8 lights 25,296 (Sport) or 32,760 (Pro) lumens
Diode Dynamics SS5 Windshield Windshield 7 pods Cool White or Yellow, selectable backlight
KC FLEX ERA 30" bumper kit Steel bumper 30 in 23,736 lumens, combo or spot lens
KC Gravity bumper kit Bumper 39 in, 6 lights Combo with spot lenses included
Baja Designs XL Linkable bumper kit Plastic or steel bumper 6 lights 18,972 (Sport) or 24,570 (Pro) lumens
  • Spot throws a narrow, long beam for speed on open trails.
  • Flood or wide spreads light close in for slow trails and camp.
  • Combo or driving mixes both in one bar. Most of the Bronco kits here use a combo or driving pattern.
  • Color. Diode Dynamics says white gives the most visible light. Morimoto says yellow does better in rain, snow and fog, and Diode Dynamics says yellow cuts glare in dust and weather. KC's amber dust light is a marker mode, and KC says it does not replace a forward light.

Wiring, switches and on-road rules

Many 6th gen Broncos have factory auxiliary (upfitter) switches in the overhead console, which makes light bar wiring simpler. Check whether yours does before you choose a harness.

  • Factory aux switches. Diode Dynamics includes a harness for the factory aux switch bank with its SS5 kits. Baja Designs offers an upfitter harness as an alternative to its toggle switch. ORACLE sells a Bronco Roof Light Bar Factory AUX Wiring Harness and a Bronco Roof Light Bar Switched Wiring Harness, both plug-and-play with factory-style connectors.
  • Included switches. KC's overhead and bumper kits come with a 3-position switch, and the Baja Dual Control roof kit includes two toggle harnesses.
  • Current draw. Big bars pull real current. RIGID lists 18.5 amps for its 40-inch roof bar, and the listing says to plan wiring, fuse and relay for the load, and KC lists 19.74 amps in high-power mode for its 39-inch Titan bumper bar.

On-road use. Off-road light bars are generally meant for off-road use, and many states restrict running them on public roads. Some states also require covers on off-road lights while you drive on the street. Rules vary, so check your state's laws. KC includes light covers with its Gravity kits.

Frequently asked questions

What size light bar fits a 6th gen Bronco roof?

Roof and windshield kits for the 6th gen Bronco come in several lengths. RIGID's roof kits take a 40-inch SR-Series bar, DV8 offers a 40-inch curved mount, Cali Raised LED lists a 42-inch curved bar, and KC HiLiTES and Baja Designs both sell 50-inch roof kits. Match the bar to the mount, and confirm the year range on each product page.

Can I put a roof light bar on a soft top Bronco?

Some kits allow it and some do not. KC HiLiTES says its Gravity Titan overhead kit works with factory hardtops and soft tops. DV8 does not recommend over-windshield mounts, including its 40-inch curved mount, on soft tops because of wind noise.

Will a bumper light bar fit my Bronco's factory bumper?

It depends on which factory bumper you have. Baja Designs makes separate XL Linkable bumper kits for the OEM plastic bumper and the OEM modular steel bumper. The KC FLEX ERA 30-inch kit and the Diode Dynamics SS5 grille kit are listed for the steel bumper, and both KC bumper kits are listed for 2021–2024. Confirm your bumper style and year before ordering.

Can I wire a light bar to the Bronco's factory aux switches?

Many kits are set up for it. Diode Dynamics includes a harness that runs its SS5 kits through the factory aux switch bank, Baja Designs offers an upfitter harness instead of a toggle switch, and ORACLE sells a Bronco roof light bar harness for the factory AUX circuit. Without aux switches, choose a kit with its own switch.

Are light bars legal to use on the road?

Off-road light bars are generally meant for off-road use, and many states restrict running them on public roads. Some states also require covers when you drive on the street. Rules vary by state, so check your state's laws.

Do roof light bars cause wind noise on a Bronco?

They can. Baja Designs notes that its roof lights add some wind noise, and DV8 does not recommend its over-windshield mounts on soft tops because of wind noise.

Do these light bars fit the Bronco Sport?

No. The Bronco Sport is a different vehicle, and the kits in this guide are listed for the 6th gen Bronco, with year ranges that vary by kit. RIGID and Baja Designs sell separate Bronco Sport kits.
