The 4.0L V6 in the 5th-gen 4Runner is about as dependable as engines get, but the factory intake is built for quiet, not airflow. SXTH Element's CPLT intake swaps it for a larger dry-flow filter, a molded airbox with a magnetic lid, and a smooth tube that tapers back to the stock MAF diameter. The truck stays on its factory calibration: no tune, no check engine light.
What it does on the dyno
SXTH's Dynojet comparison showed peak output going from 216.31 to 226.89 wheel horsepower, about 10.6 whp, and peak torque rising about 9.7 lb-ft, with gains through much of the upper rev range. Real-world results vary with the truck, fuel and conditions, but this is where a loaded 4Runner tends to run out of breath.
Sound without the drone
SXTH tuned a Helmholtz resonator to the 4.0L to cut the harsh resonance that makes many open intakes tiring on the highway. You hear more V6 when you get into it and not much when you are cruising.
Filtration and upkeep
The dry filter has a 6-inch inlet and reached up to 99.52% filtration efficiency in SXTH's published ISO 5011 / SAE J726 testing. No oil to manage. The magnetic lid lifts off by hand for checks.

When does the SXTH 4Runner 4.0L CPLT intake ship?
It is on preorder. SXTH expects to ship in November, and we pass along their ship date as soon as we have it.
Does it need a tune?
No. The tube tapers back to the factory MAF diameter, so the 4Runner runs on its stock calibration.
Does it fit the 2025+ 4Runner?
No. This is for the 2010-2024 4Runner 4.0L V6. SXTH makes a separate CPLT intake for the 2025+ 4Runner 2.4T.
Do I have to oil the filter?
No. It is a dry filter. Clean it with mild soap and water when it needs it.
Can it ship to California?
