How to make a Overland Vehicle Systems claim
- Have your proof of purchase or sales receipt ready; OVS asks for it with every warranty claim
- Photograph the defect and note your part number before you remove or ship anything
- Contact OVS Warranty Service by phone or email (below). OVS decides whether the item is defective and, if it is, repairs or replaces it with an equivalent product
- Freight deliveries (caps, racks, tents): inspect before you sign, note any damage on the bill of lading, and report damage or missing pieces within 24 hours

5/8" Soft Shackle, 44,500 lb Breaking Strength
A soft shackle does the job of a steel bow shackle with a loop of Dyneema rope instead of a heavy pin and body. That means nothing to rattle in the recovery bag, nothing to chip a bumper, and no pin to drop in the mud halfway through a recovery.
This one is 5/8" UV-stable gray synthetic rope, 22" long overall, secured with an oversized heavy duty collar, and wrapped in an abrasion sleeve to protect it where it bears on rough edges. Dyneema is slick, so synthetic winch line slides through it easily, which is why some people rig it with a recovery ring instead of carrying a snatch block. Universal. Use it with rated recovery points, kinetic ropes, tow straps and winch rigging, for both static and kinetic pulls.
Each shackle comes with a storage bag made from 600 denier ballistic nylon with a cinch closure. Size your shackle to the job: the working load (15,000 lb) is the number to plan around, not the breaking strength. It is covered by the OVS warranty. Not sure it fits your setup? Can I use a soft shackle for kinetic recoveries?
Yes. OVS recommends these shackles for both static winching and kinetic pulls.

Can I use it with a recovery ring instead of a snatch block?
Yes. Dyneema is low friction, so synthetic winch line runs through it easily, and pairing it with a recovery ring is a common snatch block alternative.
