This mount lets an Alpine aftermarket microphone live in the 4Runner's own microphone location in the headliner console. The result looks factory and keeps voice pickup where it was designed to be, instead of adding a stalk to the dash or windshield.
You remove the factory microphone and drop the new one into the mount. The mount then clicks into the console with its legs facing down. The microphone wire follows the headliner to the mirror, along the top of the windshield, behind the driver-side A-pillar cover and under the dash.
Fitment
2010-2024 Toyota 4Runner. Console disassembly varies by trim, with extra steps for trucks that have terrain control knobs such as TRD Pro or Off-Road.
Install notes
If you have a sunglasses compartment, open it and remove two screws. With terrain knobs, pull off the control panel to reach the screws. Pull the console front straight down to release the clips and unplug its harness. Push the black rectangular factory microphone forward to free the dome light switch and cover, unplug the mic, then put the switch and cover back. Push the Alpine microphone's rounded end through the mount, click the mount into the console, route the wire, and plug the 3.5mm jack into the red microphone port on the radio. Test it.
