The Hi-Lite Overland is Backwoods Adventure Mods' true hybrid front bumper for the 2010–2024 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner — without a bull bar, for a cleaner high-clearance look. "Hybrid" here means steel and aluminum, not one or the other: a 28 lb aluminum outer shell over a 55 lb steel winch plate and recovery points, for 83 lb total.
The steel carries the winch and recovery loads, tied directly to the frame rather than the bumper skin, and the aluminum keeps weight down where the truck does not need steel. Backwoods designed and builds it in the USA.
Why it works
- Hybrid steel and aluminum — 28 lb shell + 55 lb steel = 83 lb.
- Winch-ready for up to a 12,000 lb winch, with hand cutouts for winch access and spool visibility.
- Steel recovery points tied to the frame, not the bumper.
- Light cutouts for most aftermarket pod lights and a flat top for a 30" light bar.
- No bull bar — a super aggressive, high-clearance profile.
- High-clearance design. Black powder coat included.
Fitment and compatibility
- All 5th Gen 4Runners, 2010–2024, including 2010–2013 pre-facelift and Limited models.
- Works with factory TSS; if your truck has the factory forward-facing camera, the TSS has to be relocated.
- Compatible with the TRD skid plate when the connector skid is not used.
- Accepts all hawse fairleads and most roller fairleads; some roller fairleads are too large for the recessed opening.
- Not compatible with factory fog lights or the Rago Fabrication Aqua Tank washer reservoir.
Winch notes
Most winches fit without changes. If the winch is taller than 10.1", plan on relocating the solenoid or slightly modifying the crossmember — WARN ZEON winches (10.5" tall) fall in that group. The winch can be mounted to the truck separately from the bumper. Backwoods considers its front bumper support brackets a must if you plan to winch.

Will it fit my 4Runner?
It fits all 2010-2024 5th Gen 4Runners, including 2010-2013 pre-facelift and Limited models. It does not work with factory fog lights.
What winch can I run?
Up to a 12,000 lb winch. Winches taller than 10.1 inches, such as the 10.5-inch WARN ZEON, need the solenoid relocated or a slight crossmember modification.
Does it work with TSS and the TRD skid?
Yes to factory TSS, though it must be relocated if your truck has the factory forward-facing camera. The TRD skid plate works when you do not run the Backwoods connector skid.
Do I need the support brackets?
Backwoods calls them a must-have if you plan to winch. They tie the factory bumper mounts into the sway bar mounts to spread the load.
How heavy is it?
