A magnetic base is the quickest way to put a Tackform mount onto a steel surface and take it off again. This one carries a 20mm billet aluminum ball and belongs to Tackform's 20 Series, so it pairs with 20mm arms and holders.
Why it works
- Ten neodymium magnets are sealed inside a powder coated steel housing.
- A non-marring rubber pad protects the surface the base sits on.
- The 20mm CNC billet aluminum ball is machined to +/- .005", with grooves designed on purpose to keep the socket from slipping.
- Tackform's Type-B interface makes it straightforward to swap between ball sizes and dovetails.
Ball or dovetail?
Because of the Type-B interface you are not locked into the ball. A dovetail suits short-reach setups, while the 20mm ball is usually preferred when you need longer reach.
Fitment
Universal, but it needs a magnetic (steel) surface to stick to. Part of the 20 Series and not compatible with 25.4mm / 1" / B-sized ball systems.
