This is a swing-out rear tire carrier for the 5th generation 4Runner, built to put the spare on the back and still let the hatch open. The carrier is built from 1.75 inch DOM tubing to take the weight of a tire and whatever else you hang on it, and the pivot is a dual shear hinge with a Delrin bushing so it turns smoothly. A spring-loaded safety pin locks it closed.
It also works as a gear platform. A rigid accessory panel is built in with RotoPax mounting locations, so you can carry fuel or water containers and other accessories alongside the tire. An adjustable tire mount is included and holds tires up to 35 inches. The finish is a heavy duty satin black textured powder coat, and bare metal is also offered. It is made in the USA and made to order, so it ships on a lead time rather than from stock.
Fitment
Listed for the 2010-2020 Toyota 4Runner, and RCI says it is compatible with its 2010-2020 RCI Offroad 4Runner rear bumper. It is a direct bolt-on to the existing attachment points on the rear bumper, with no drilling.
Install notes
The swing out alone weighs 105 lb before a tire goes on it, so plan on a helper and a jack or lift. RCI publishes an installation guide for the 10-20 4Runner rear tire swingout.
