This is a plug-in LED replacement for the 1156 bulb that lights the engine compartment on the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 HD Classic. It uses 18 three-chip 5050 SMD LEDs rated at 270-306 lumens, with quick-fire response, and draws roughly a tenth of the power of the factory bulb. The LED chips are rated at 100,000 hours.
Underhood lights get used for a minute at a time, so a long-life, low-draw bulb mostly pays off as something you do once. When you need to check fluid levels after dark, it gives a cleaner, brighter light than a tired incandescent.
