This is a straight swap for the factory 1156 incandescent bulb in the engine compartment light. ORACLE builds it around 18 LEDs in a 3-chip 5050 SMD layout, so it lights instantly, rated at 270-306 lumens, and pulls roughly one-tenth the power of the stock bulb. For a lamp you only use when you are poking around under the hood, the long chip life (rated 100,000 hours) means this is probably the last bulb you buy for that socket.
