The transfer case on a second-gen Tacoma hangs right where rocks and ledges like to hit, and the factory cover is roughly .050-inch sheet metal. This M.O.R.E. rear transfer case skid replaces that thin piece with 1/4-inch aluminum plate, so a hard landing or a dragged ledge lands on armor instead of the case housing.
It fits 2005-2015 Tacoma 4x4 models. At about 20 lb it adds real protection without much weight, which is the point of choosing aluminum: it keeps weight off the frame. Choose it bare, or powder coated in Pure Black, Tactical Gray, Flame Red or Desert Sand. Bare plates may carry some light scratches from manufacturing.
Install uses the factory hole locations plus two holes you drill yourself, so have a good bit and a drill on hand. Torque everything to spec and check the bolts again after the first trail run. M.O.R.E. builds the aluminum plates to order: bare aluminum quotes up to 10 business days to ship, and powder colors other than black can add up to 15 business days.
M.O.R.E. has built off-road parts in Delta, Colorado since Chris Overacker started the company in his home garage in 1978. Plates are designed in 3D CAD, cut on Mazak lasers and made in-house in the USA. The RockProof Lifetime Warranty covers product failure for the original retail purchaser for as long as they own the vehicle; the powder coat finish is a wear item and isn't covered, and install labor and shipping are excluded.

M.O.R.E. Rear Transfer Case Skid Plate (Aluminum) FAQs
Will this fit a 2WD Tacoma?
M.O.R.E. lists it for 2005-2015 Tacoma 4x4 models. It is a transfer case skid, so 2WD trucks are not the target fitment.
Do I have to drill?
Yes, a little. It uses the factory hole locations and you drill two additional holes.
How long does it take to ship?
M.O.R.E. builds aluminum plates to order. Bare aluminum quotes up to 10 business days, and powder coat colors other than black can add up to 15 business days.
Should I pick bare aluminum or a powder coat color?
M.O.R.E. notes bare aluminum may show some scratches from manufacturing. Powder coat (Pure Black, Tactical Gray, Flame Red or Desert Sand) gives a finished color but will wear where the plate meets rock, and finish wear is not covered by the warranty.
What does the warranty cover?
M.O.R.E.'s RockProof Lifetime Warranty covers product failure for the original retail purchaser for as long as they own the vehicle. The powder coat finish is a wear item and is not covered, and install labor, shipping, altered parts and wrong-vehicle installs are excluded.
