M.O.R.E. calls the stock steering link on an old CJ wimpy, and it is hard to argue. M.O.R.E.'s heavy-duty tie rod kit replaces it with 1" OD DOM steel tubing with .219" wall, threaded for 5/8" left- and right-hand rod ends, and both ends get wrench flats for easy adjustment.
The rod ends are race-grade, Teflon/Kevlar lined and self-lubricating, with a heat-treated, plated alloy steel body. Jam nuts and grade 8 hardware are included. You can run the rod over or under the knuckles, depending on your clearance needs.
This kit fits 1972-1981 Jeep CJ models with the narrow track Dana 30 front axle. Choose bare steel (no paint) or zinc plated. Zinc is the better choice for road salt country like ours; bare is fine if you plan to paint it.
Be ready for one irreversible step: you have to drill the stock tapered knuckle holes to a straight 5/8". Use a sharp bit, go slow and keep it square. After install, set your toe, torque the jam nuts and re-check everything after a short drive.
