This is the universal version of J&L's 3 oz oil separator, meant for builders who need a catch can on an engine J&L does not make a plug-and-play kit for. You supply the hose and decide where it goes, which suits custom, swapped or boosted setups.
The body is machined from solid billet aluminum, with a knurled base that twists off for draining and an O-ring seal against leaks. A metal mesh filter on the intake side collects vapor and lets it grow into larger oil droplets that drain back into the tank. The tank holds 3 oz, and J&L suggests draining it roughly every 3,500 to 4,000 miles.
Fitment
Universal, not vehicle specific. J&L recommends checking whether they make a plug-and-play separator for your vehicle first; this one is the option when they do not.
What's included
One J&L oil separator (2 x 3.5 inches, black or clear satin anodized), one angled bracket, one straight bracket, two screws to mount a bracket to the separator, two straight glass-filled nylon fittings (3/8 in NPT x 1/2 in ID), two 90-degree elbow fittings (3/8 in NPT x 1/2 in ID) and two 90-degree elbow fittings (3/8 in NPT x 3/8 in ID). Hose is not included.
Install notes
J&L cannot know what hose or fittings your setup needs, so the kit includes a variety of brackets and fittings to choose from. You will need your own hose, additional fittings if the included ones do not work, and hardware to mount the bracket to your vehicle. Plan a first check at 500 to 1,000 miles and dispose of collected oil properly; it is mixed with fuel and water.
This product is not CARB exempt. It is not for sale or use in California or any other state that follows California emission standards, and orders shipping to a California address are cancelled.

Is this the right one for my vehicle?
Only if J&L does not make a plug-and-play separator for your vehicle. They have many vehicle-specific kits, so check there first. This universal unit is for builders who will supply their own hose and routing.
What comes in the box?
One 2 x 3.5 inch separator in your choice of finish, an angled and a straight bracket, two bracket screws, two straight nylon fittings (3/8 NPT x 1/2 ID), two 90-degree fittings (3/8 NPT x 1/2 ID) and two 90-degree fittings (3/8 NPT x 3/8 ID). No hose.
Do I need to buy hose and hardware?
Yes. You need hose, any other fittings your setup requires if the included ones do not work, and hardware to mount the bracket to your vehicle.
How often do I drain it?
