The factory tie rods on these Toyotas have a well-documented habit of giving up when big tires meet big rocks. ICON's XD Forged Tie Rod kit replaces them with stronger materials and heavier dimensions.
The inner tie rod and ball stud are CNC machined from 4140 chromoly, with metal-on-metal bearing surfaces instead of the plastic inner races in the factory parts. The adjustment threads are 12% larger in diameter than stock. The outer tie rod is forged steel, and the tie rod end is a metal-on-metal joint with a grease fitting for longer service life.
The outer profile matches the stock tie rods, so factory wheel diameters and offsets clear, as do most aftermarket wheels. The operating angle of the tie rod end is the same as stock. ICON recommends the kit as part of a broader steering upgrade if you wheel hard.
