This is the aluminum storage box made to hang on the side of the Backwoods Toyota Tacoma bed rack. Most bed rack boxes are injection-molded plastic that tends to age badly; Backwoods builds this one in the USA from 1/8" aluminum with stainless mounts and a proper gasket. Run one per side of the rack.
Why it works
- All 1/8" aluminum construction with stainless steel mounts and stainless black-oxide hardware.
- Gas struts open the lid automatically; lockable push-button latches keep it closed. Two rubber latch covers are included.
- A rubber gasket helps keep out dust and water.
- Outside MOLLE panel for accessories, pre-drilled for a Rotopax mount.
- Two adjustable interior shelves.
- Total weight is 38 lb.
Gas strut setup
Three gas struts come with the box. Use two when the outside panel carries no extra weight; use all three when a Rotopax or other heavy accessory hangs on the MOLLE panel.
Fitment
- Requires the Backwoods Toyota Tacoma Overland Bed Rack, which fits 2005+ short bed Tacomas (2nd, 3rd and 4th gen).
- One box per side of the bed rack.

Do I need the Backwoods bed rack?
Yes. The box is made to mount on the Backwoods Toyota Tacoma Overland Bed Rack, one box per side.
Why three gas struts?
Use two when nothing heavy is on the outside panel and all three when you run a Rotopax or another heavy accessory on the MOLLE panel.
Will it keep water out?
It uses a rubber gasket to help keep out dust and water, with lockable push-button latches.
Can I add another shelf?
