About Rhino-Rack

Rhino-Rack was started in Australia in 1992 by Richard Cropley and opened a Denver, Colorado warehouse in 2008 to serve North America. It is now part of the Clarus Adventure group, which also owns Maxtrax, so you will see the two brands' gear designed to work together.

The company builds a system rather than a single rack. A vehicle-specific base, such as a Backbone mounting system, an RCP base kit or a set of legs, carries either crossbars or a Pioneer platform, and from there everything else clips or bolts on: awnings, jerry can and jack holders, recovery track brackets, light mounts, cargo boxes and carriers for kayaks, bikes and skis. The upside is that you can start with bars and add to them later; the catch is that the fit depends on getting the base right for your exact vehicle, roof and door count.

What we carry from Rhino-Rack

We carry Rhino-Rack's Pioneer 6 platforms, Pioneer NG replacement parts and Pioneer accessories, including high-lift jack holders, jerry can and gas bottle holders, recovery track brackets, light and worklight brackets and accessory bars. We also list Vortex, Vortex Aero, Vortex StealthBar and Heavy Duty crossbars, leg kits and RL leg brackets, Backbone mounting systems and RCP base kits, Reconn deck bars and RTC and RTV tracks for truck beds, Batwing and Sunseeker awnings with their side walls and extensions, wind fairings, cargo boxes and the Maxtrax mini carry bag. Base kits and Backbone systems are built for a specific vehicle, and we list them for the Toyota Tacoma, Tundra, 4Runner and Land Cruiser, Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator, Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, Ram trucks and Ford Transit; bars, platforms and accessories then mount on top of whichever base fits your vehicle.

How to choose

Bars or a platform: Crossbars are the lighter starting point and carry Rhino-Rack's lifetime warranty on the Vortex, Heavy Duty, Euro, Reconn and Sportz lines. A Pioneer platform gives a flat deck for jerry cans, recovery boards and a jack, and is covered for five years.

Get the base right first: The base kit or Backbone system is what ties the rack to your roof, and it is specific to the model, cab and roof type. Rhino-Rack excludes damage from fitting a product to a vehicle it was not made for, so confirm the base before you add anything on top.

Plan the accessories: Most Pioneer accessories, from jack holders to light brackets, mount to the platform slats or side rails. Buying the platform and the accessories together saves a second round of fitting.

Respect the load: Overloading and cargo that is not properly secured are excluded from the warranty. Check the load rating for your bars or platform and your vehicle's roof before loading a rooftop tent or full jerry cans.

Fabric wears faster: Awnings, bags and other textile products carry one year, and exposure to the elements counts as normal wear. Pack an awning away dry when you can.

Lead times & shipping

NVMOS dropships Rhino-Rack orders from the brand's North American stock or a distributor. In-stock parts usually leave in 1-3 business days, and items stocked at the manufacturer take about 1-2 weeks. Brackets, bars, leg kits and most accessories ship by parcel carrier. Large Pioneer platforms and some long items can ship by truck freight, which can add a few days and may need someone home to receive them. We send tracking as soon as it is issued.

Rhino-Rack warranty

Rhino-Rack warrants its products to the original retail buyer, or the person who received it as a gift, against manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship, and the warranty does not transfer. Terms run from the purchase date: lifetime on Euro, Heavy Duty, Reconn, Vortex and Sportz crossbar systems; five years on Pioneer platforms, other roof trays, roof racks and anything not listed elsewhere; three years on steel products and components; and one year on textile and fabric products, locks and electrical parts. Rhino-Rack repairs or replaces the defective item at its option, without charge for parts or labor. It does not cover normal wear and weather exposure, poor maintenance, ignoring the fitting instructions, fitting to the wrong vehicle, misuse, accidents, overloading, unsecured cargo, non-Rhino-Rack accessories, vehicle modifications or damage to your vehicle and cargo. Claims go back through the place of purchase with the original receipt, within 15 days after the warranty period ends, and the buyer pays to return the product. Read our Rhino-Rack warranty summary.

Rhino-Rack FAQs

How long is the Rhino-Rack warranty?

It depends on the product: lifetime on Euro, Heavy Duty, Reconn, Vortex and Sportz crossbars, five years on Pioneer platforms, roof racks and most other products, three years on steel parts and one year on fabric, locks and electrical parts.

Does the lifetime warranty cover Pioneer platforms?

No. Rhino-Rack's lifetime term applies to its crossbar systems and specifically excludes Pioneer and other roof tray products, which carry five years.

Is the Rhino-Rack warranty transferable?

No. It covers the original retail buyer, or the person who received the product as a gift, and does not pass to a later owner.

How do I make a Rhino-Rack warranty claim?

Claims go back through the place of purchase with the original receipt and photos. For orders placed with us, contact NVMOS and we will handle it with Rhino-Rack.

Do I need a base kit as well as bars?

Usually, yes. The bars or platform sit on a vehicle-specific base such as a Backbone system, RCP base kit or leg kit, and that base is what has to match your vehicle.

Do Rhino-Rack platforms ship freight?

Some larger Pioneer platforms and long items ship by truck freight. Bars, brackets and accessories normally go by parcel carrier.

What does the warranty not cover?

Normal wear and weather exposure, accidents, misuse, overloading, unsecured cargo, incorrect fitment, fitting to an incompatible vehicle and any damage to your vehicle or cargo.
