About Flowmaster

Flowmaster traces its mufflers back to a founder who was trying to make race cars quieter at California tracks without choking them, and the company has been selling performance exhaust since 1983. The chambered muffler is still the core of the line, alongside laminar-flow designs, the straight-through FlowFX family, race mufflers, headers and Delta Force air intakes. Today Flowmaster is one of the brands supported through Holley's tech line.

The thing Flowmaster does well for a buyer is make sound a choice you can make on paper. The company groups its systems into sound levels from mild to aggressive, and its catalog spells out which series sits where. That saves you from guessing based on a video recorded with somebody else's microphone and somebody else's engine.

What we carry from Flowmaster

Most of what we list from Flowmaster is bolt-on cat-back exhaust built for a specific truck, engine and model year: the aggressive Outlaw, Outlaw Extreme and American Thunder systems, the moderate FlowFX, FlowFX Extreme and Force II systems, and the 304 stainless Signature Series. Most kits are 409S stainless, with some older applications in aluminized steel. Flowmaster's catalog covers the Toyota Tacoma, Tundra and 4Runner, Ford F-150, Super Duty and Bronco, Chevy Silverado and Colorado, GMC Sierra and Canyon, Ram 1500 and 2500/3500, Nissan Frontier and Jeep Gladiator, with applications broken out by generation and engine. We also carry individual Flowmaster mufflers for custom work.

How to choose

Decide on volume first: Flowmaster rates its systems from mild to aggressive. If you drive the truck daily or tow for hours at highway speed, a moderate system like FlowFX or Force II is usually easier to live with than Outlaw or American Thunder.

Match the engine, not just the truck: Systems are cut for specific engines and generations, such as the 3.5L Tacoma or the 2.7L Colorado. Confirm your engine, cab and bed length before ordering.

Stainless vs aluminized: Stainless systems carry Flowmaster's limited lifetime warranty while aluminized parts get three years. On a truck that sees salted Wisconsin roads, stainless is the safer long-term choice.

FlowFX mufflers carry a shorter warranty: A complete stainless FlowFX system falls under the lifetime tier, but a FlowFX muffler bought on its own has a one-year warranty. Keep that in mind if you are building a custom setup.

Expect straight-through mufflers to change: Flowmaster treats the slow breakdown of packing in straight-through mufflers as normal wear. Those designs tend to get louder over time and that is not a warranty issue.

Lead times & shipping

NVMOS dropships Flowmaster orders from the brand or its distributor. In-stock parts usually leave in 1-3 business days, and parts stocked at the manufacturer take about 1-2 weeks. Single mufflers and tips ship by parcel carrier. Complete cat-back systems come in long, bulky boxes and can ship oversized or by freight truck, which may add a few days. We send tracking as soon as we have it.

Flowmaster warranty

Flowmaster's written warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship for the original buyer, as long as that buyer still owns the part and it stays on the vehicle it was first installed on. Stainless mufflers other than FlowFX, stainless systems, pipes, intake kits and most stainless accessories get a limited lifetime term for the life of the original vehicle; aluminized mufflers, systems and pipes, exhaust tips, other non-race accessories and any commercial use get three years; Delta Force dry filters get two; and FlowFX mufflers, Elite headers and electronics get one. Flowmaster either replaces the part with the same part number or refunds the purchase price. Labor, removal, towing, extra parts and return shipping are not covered, and neither are sound changes, cosmetic issues like discoloration, racing use, improper installation or road damage. Flowmaster FAQs

How long is the Flowmaster warranty?

It depends on material and product. Most stainless mufflers and systems are limited lifetime, aluminized parts and tips are three years, Delta Force dry filters are two, and FlowFX mufflers, Elite headers and electronics are one year.

Does the Flowmaster warranty cover a muffler that got louder?

No. Flowmaster treats sound changes and the breakdown of sound-absorbing packing in straight-through mufflers as normal wear.

Does the warranty transfer to a new owner?

No. Coverage is for the original buyer while the part stays on the original vehicle. Moving it to another truck also ends coverage.

Will Flowmaster pay for installation if a part fails?

No. Flowmaster replaces the part or refunds the purchase price, but labor, removal, extra parts, towing and return shipping are on the owner.

Do I have to register my Flowmaster exhaust?

Registration is optional. It helps as a backup if you lose your receipt, and your NVMOS order record also serves as proof of purchase.

Is discoloration on stainless tips a defect?

No. Flowmaster excludes cosmetic issues such as coating wear and discoloration.

Which Flowmaster system is the loudest?

Outlaw, Outlaw Extreme and American Thunder are Flowmaster's aggressive systems. FlowFX and Force II are rated moderate.
