About AEV

AEV started in the 1990s when founder Dave Harriton began stretching TJ Wranglers for himself and friends while a student at the University of Montana. Those builds won design awards at SEMA, and AEV grew into one of the best-known names in Jeep and Ram builds, with design and engineering in Missoula and a large engineering, build and warehouse operation in the Detroit area.

AEV designs its parts to OE standards and tests them to match. It was one of the first aftermarket brands to build stamped steel bumpers, and its current JL and JT bumpers use hot stamped boron steel with an e-coat and powder coat finish.

What we carry from AEV

Front and rear bumpers, tire carriers and bumper accessories for the Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Gladiator, Ram HD, Ford Super Duty, Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon and Silverado and Sierra trucks; DualSport lift kits, coil springs, shocks and steering upgrades; DualSport wheels with protection and beadlock rings; skid plates, differential covers, snorkels and HighMark fender flares; and AEV recovery gear in Mid-Size and Full-Size kits.

How to choose

  • Suspension is engine and body specific. Match the kit to your engine (gas, diesel, Hemi, 4xe), door count, and for Ram HD your tire size (37 or 40 inch) and rear spring type.
  • Bumpers are modular. Plan the winch mount or non-winch cover plate, skid plate, light mounts and harnesses with the bumper so it all arrives together.
  • For DualSport wheels, pick the ring (protection or beadlock) and the hardware kit for your wheel's bolt size (M8 or M10).
  • Recovery gear: Mid-Size for vehicles up to about 7,000 lb, Full-Size above that.

AEV FAQs

Where are AEV parts made?

In the USA. AEV says more than 90% of its products are built within 200 miles of Detroit, where it runs its engineering, vehicle build and warehouse operations.

What is the difference between AEV's EX and RX front bumpers?

They share the same core design. The EX uses full-width corners for more coverage, while the RX uses short corners for a more aggressive look and maximum tire clearance, which suits aftermarket flares and tires over 40 inches.

What do RT, XP and SC mean on AEV DualSport suspension?

They are tiers of the DualSport system. RT kits use Bilstein 5100 monotube shocks, XP kits step up to Bilstein XP8100 reservoir shocks, and SC is the earlier JK and Ram platform kit. Pick the kit for your engine, door count and tire size.

Do AEV wheels take beadlock rings?

AEV's DualSport wheels such as the Borah, Katmai and Crestone accept AEV protection rings or true beadlock rings, which are sold separately with the matching hardware kit.

Which AEV recovery gear do I need, Mid-Size or Full-Size?

AEV rates its Medium Duty (Mid-Size) gear for vehicles up to about 7,000 lb and its Heavy Duty (Full-Size) gear for vehicles over 7,000 lb, such as full-size trucks. Match the gear to your vehicle's weight.

What does the AEV warranty cover?

AEV offers a limited lifetime parts warranty to the original purchaser against material and manufacturing defects. Finish defects are covered for one year, and wear items and labor are not covered.
