The STILLEN Intercooler Reservoir Relocation Kit goes after a heat soak problem in the factory cooling layout of the 3.4L twin-turbo V6 Tundra and Sequoia. STILLEN found it while developing its TruPower intake and TruControl tuning module: from the factory, the intercooler reservoir and the radiator reservoir share a single combined wall, so radiator heat transfers straight into the intercooler system. STILLEN says that preloads the intercooler fluid, hurts intake air temperatures and makes the ECU compensate with reduced timing and added fuel.
The kit separates the two systems by moving the intercooler reservoir to a new spot in the engine bay, near the passenger side fender well, with its own path for thermal management. In STILLEN's logged testing with an AEM AQ-1 data logger across freeway pulls, idle and stop-and-go driving, its system returned to operating temperature in 2 minutes, while the OEM system never cooled down after more than 8 minutes. STILLEN also reports lower peak temperatures. The fit and finish are OEM-style, and the kit works with both factory and STILLEN intake systems.
