The MAP sensor on a Powerstroke sits in a stream of dirty exhaust gas and sticky oil mist, and over time it gets coated. The S&B MAP Sensor Spacer relocates the sensor out of that contaminated air stream, so it stays cleaner, keeps reading accurately and helps the truck deliver consistent power and efficient fuel economy.
Why it works
Moving the sensor out of the path of soot and oil dramatically reduces buildup on it. That stretches the interval between sensor cleanings or replacements, which is the whole point: fewer trips under the hood for a part that should not need that much attention.
Construction
The spacer is machined from billet aluminum with a black anodized finish and a machined S&B logo.

Why it works
Keeps the MAP sensor clean
The EGR and PCV systems lower combustion temperature and NOx by routing unburnt exhaust gas and oil vapor back into the combustion chambers. That same flow passes the MAP sensor.
The problem: a clogged MAP sensor
Without the spacer, exhaust gas and sticky oil vapor clog the MAP sensor's electronics and throw off its readings. Bad readings lead to wrong fuel calculations and lower fuel economy and power.
The fix: lift the sensor out of the soot
The S&B spacer relocates the MAP sensor up and out of the contaminated exhaust stream so oily soot can't build up on it.
