What's covered

- Improper installation, alteration, abuse, neglect or accidents
- Corrosion and normal wear
- Off-road damage (with some exceptions RCI decides case by case)
- Freight, labor, installation or downtime costs
- Hook marks from hanging parts for coating, unless the finish fails

- Write a description of the damage and take clear photos
- Include a copy of the original invoice
- RCI inspects the part and decides whether to repair or replace it

This 10-gauge steel engine skid is RCI all-purpose option and, in its own words, the best value for the money. It is tougher than the OEM plate and covers more. It protects the EPAS steering unit, front differential, front cross-member, engine, engine bay and the low-hanging intercooler on EcoBoost models. It works with all motors, EcoBoost and V8 included, and uses six mounting points for durability.
It mounts to the frame horns behind the tow hooks, so it does not interfere with aftermarket bumpers or a hidden winch. The two-piece design lets you remove a section for maintenance, and the oil filter is reachable by removing just two bolts and sliding the front panel off. The steel version is black powder coated.
Fitment
Fits 2009-2014 Ford F-150 4x4 and the 2007-2017 Expedition; RCI also says it fits the Navigator. Installation requires removing the plastic air dam under the bumper, and the skid provides a clean transition from the bumper.
