The Genesis is Dirtbox Overland's four-season insulated canopy camper, an aluminum shell with a rooftop tent built on T6 extruded aluminum. Where the standard Canopy Camper uses a wedge tent, the Genesis uses the HurricaneLift scissor system, which Dirtbox says handles high winds and adds 16 inches of usable headroom. An 8 foot scissor lift tent is described as equal to a 10 foot wedge because the extra space is actually usable.
The tent fabric is Stormguard, a proprietary waterproof, insulated 5-layer material that works like blackout curtains. Bed and roof platforms use Thermacore sandwich panel construction inspired by expedition vehicles to hold a moderate cabin temperature, with Luxetherm material on the platform and ceiling to fight condensation. Two kick-in panels at the nose of the tent push the fabric in over the cab so you do not have to climb up to pack it down.
Interior and exterior lighting runs through the DualView sPOD Touch System, two Bluetooth-compatible touchscreen switch panels, with dimmable warm amber lighting along the sidewalls. T-Slot track runs around the full perimeter, and an L-Track rooftop system built into the extrusion mounts solar panels, kayaks and skis. The LushSleep mattress is a hypoallergenic, antimicrobial rubberized foam made for the Genesis.
Fitment
Dirtbox lists Chevy/GMC 1500 (5'7" and 6'6" beds, 2019+), Chevy/GMC 2500 (6'6" and 8 foot beds, 2019+) and Ford F-150 (5'6" bed, 2015-2020 and 2021+). More options exist beyond these, so ask us about your truck.
