The Hi-Lite Overland front bumper for the 2010–2024 5th Gen 4Runner is a true hybrid: steel where the loads are, aluminum where weight would otherwise pile up. This version carries a full triple-hoop bull bar, and the whole bumper still comes in at 86 lbs.
Why it works
Plenty of bumpers called "hybrid" are really one material. Backwoods splits the job. The winch plate and recovery points are steel, because that is what you pull on. The outer shell is aluminum, because that is the part that mostly needs to be shaped and tough rather than heavy. Keeping front-end weight down matters on a 4Runner — it is weight hanging off the front of the truck all day, on and off the trail.
