The rear exhaust section and resonator on a JL sit exactly where a rock or ledge ends a trail day. This skid plate from Clayton Off Road wraps that part of the OEM exhaust in 3/16 inch steel, supported by heavy brackets, while leaving plenty of air space around it so heat is not trapped as you drive.
Clayton built it to be strong without giving up much ground clearance. The hardware is countersunk, so the skid surface is smooth with no exposed bolt heads to catch on obstacles. It surrounds the OEM exhaust section completely.
Fitment
Jeep Wrangler JL, 2018 and newer. It works only with the OEM exhaust, and Clayton lists it as tested on the 6.4L V8 and the 3.6L V6 exhaust. It does not fit E-Torque vehicles. It also cannot be installed as a standalone skid plate: it is compatible only with a Clayton Off Road transfer case skid or one of their skid plate systems.
Finish and shipping
All items ship bare metal, so high-temp paint or powder coating is required before it goes on the vehicle. It ships out of a box, and surface rust or scratches picked up in transit are not treated as damage or grounds for return. If you want to avoid that, email Clayton Off Road for a freight quote on pallet shipping.

Can I install it on its own?
No. It cannot be a standalone skid. It works only with a Clayton Off Road transfer case skid or one of their skid plate systems.
