AluBox builds marine-grade aluminum cases in Denmark, from small 10 L boxes up to about 690 L. NVMOS carries the cases plus RuumX divider systems, packing organizers and tables, for overlanders who want gear stored and organized on the roof, in the bed or in a drawer.

The AluBox S198 is a 198 liter aluminum case with a big, low profile: 118 x 78 x 25 cm and 13.2 kg empty. It is the larger sibling of the S074, with twice the footprint at the same height, which makes it a good fit for a roof rack where you want volume without stacking height.
It is rated IP54 for dust and water protection and is meant to keep gear safe from impact, dirt and wet. The body is saltwater-resistant EN AW-5754 aluminum, with high-quality toggle locks and a replaceable rubber lid liner if the original ever gets damaged. Custom corner castings let boxes stack securely.
Fitment
This is a universal-fit box rather than a vehicle-specific part. It shares its footprint with the S350, A415, S550 and S690, so accessories built around that footprint line up. Mounting brackets are available for roof mounting, and the RuumX modular dividing system is an option for organizing the inside.
Build notes
AluBox hand-builds its boxes in Denmark and has done so since 1999, run by three generations of the family. They back the boxes with lifetime support. Check your rack's dimensions and load rating before you commit, since this is a large box.

Can I mount the S198 on a roof rack?
Yes. Roof mounting is available using AluBox mounting brackets, sold separately.
How waterproof is it?
It carries an IP54 rating, which covers dust and water protection. It is not rated as submersible.
Can I add dividers?
Yes. The RuumX modular dividing system is an option for this box.
What other boxes share its footprint?
The S350, A415, S550 and S690 have the same footprint as the S198.
What if the lid seal gets damaged?
The box has a replaceable rubber lid liner, so you can swap it out.
