These frame support brackets for the 2016–2023 3rd Gen Tacoma reinforce how a front bumper ties into the frame. They use the factory bumper mounts, then wrap around and tie into the front sway bar mounts, spreading the load across more of the frame when you winch or pull a vehicle out.
Why it works
A winch puts a lot of force through a small number of bolts. Tying into the sway bar mounts gives that force a second path into the frame. Backwoods calls them optional, but highly recommends them if you plan on any winching at all — which is the honest way to think about them: simple insurance for a bumper that will actually get used.
