About Revolution Gear & Axle

Revolution Gear & Axle's manufacturing relationships go back to 1984, and the Revolution name itself launched in 2012. It describes itself as veteran owned and operated and as a second-generation family company with no holding company or parent brand behind it, which is less common in the driveline aftermarket than it used to be. Parts ship from two US warehouses, one in South Elgin, Illinois and one in Santa Fe Springs, California.

The catalog covers most of what sits between the transfer case and the wheels: ring and pinion sets, complete gear packages, bearing installation kits, axle shafts, crate axles, driveshafts, lockers and diff covers. That makes it a practical one-stop source when you regear for bigger tires, since the gears, the install kit and a locker can all come from the same place and be matched to each other.

What we carry from Revolution Gear & Axle

From Revolution we carry ring and pinion sets and complete gear packages, bearing installation kits, Discovery Series chromoly axle shaft kits, replacement axles, driveshafts, diff covers and the Eaton lockers and limited slips it sells, such as the ELocker and Detroit TrueTrac. Most of the vehicle-specific catalog targets the Jeep Wrangler JK and JL, Jeep Gladiator, Ram trucks and the Toyota Tacoma, with gear and locker options for the Dana 30 and Dana 44 axles in those Jeeps, along with Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon and GM 2500HD applications. Gears are matched to the axle and ratio rather than just the model, so the axle code matters more than the badge.

How to choose

Know your axle, not just your vehicle: Ring and pinion sets are sold by axle family, ratio and sometimes standard or reverse rotation. Confirm the axle code on your build sheet or diff tag before you order, especially on Jeeps where Rubicon and non-Rubicon axles differ.

Buy the install kit with the gears: New gears need new bearings, seals and shims to set up correctly. Ordering a matching bearing installation kit or a complete gear package saves a second wait when the shop opens the diff.

Pick a ratio for the tires you will run: Regearing is usually done to recover performance after a tire size increase. Choose the ratio for the tire you plan to keep, not the one you have today, and match front and rear exactly.

Chromoly axles for bigger tires and lockers: The Discovery Series chromoly shafts carry a 10-year limited warranty that includes breakage, bent shafts and twisted splines, which matters if you are adding a locker and large tires. U-joints on those kits are covered for only 1 year unless they are Revolution's HD chromoly joints.

Plan for professional setup: Gear installation takes special tools and experience to set pinion depth and backlash. Revolution's warranty assumes correct installation and does not pay labor, so budget for a qualified shop.

Lead times & shipping

NVMOS dropships every Revolution Gear & Axle order from the brand's warehouses in Illinois and California or from its distributor. In-stock parts usually leave in 1-3 business days, and parts stocked at the manufacturer take about 1-2 weeks. Gears, install kits and axle shafts go by parcel carrier; complete crate axles and some long driveshafts are freight items that ship by truck and may need someone available to receive them. We send tracking as soon as we have it.

Revolution Gear & Axle warranty

Revolution Gear & Axle gives the original retail buyer a limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, with terms set by product line. Ring and pinion sets are covered for 2 years, Discovery Series front and rear axles for 10 years including breakage, bent shafts and twisted splines, single replacement rear axles for 10 years, and driveshafts for life against twisted tubing and broken welds; bearing kits, diff covers and unlisted parts get 1 year, and Eaton, ARB, OX Offroad and Dana Spicer products follow those makers' terms. Coverage assumes correct installation and maintenance and excludes modified parts, accidents, competition use, normal wear items like bearings and seals, and labor, shipping, road service and other consequential costs. The warranty does not transfer, and every claim needs an approved RMA number before anything ships. Read our Revolution Gear & Axle warranty summary.

Revolution Gear & Axle FAQs

How long is the Revolution Gear warranty on ring and pinions?

Two years, limited, for the original retail buyer. Revolution's 9310 Pro Gears follow their own product warranty instead.

Are Discovery Series axles covered if they break?

Yes. Discovery Series front and rear axles carry a 10-year limited warranty that covers manufacturing defects, breakage, bent axles and twisted splines. The U-joints on them are covered for 1 year unless they are Revolution's HD chromoly U-joints.

What is the warranty on Revolution driveshafts?

Limited lifetime, covering twisted tubing and broken welds.

Does the warranty cover installation labor?

No. Revolution excludes labor, road service, shipping, lost use of the vehicle and other consequential costs.

Is the warranty void if I race?

Coverage assumes the part was not used in competition, and it also excludes modified parts and accident damage.

Are lockers covered by Revolution?

Lockers and differentials follow their maker's terms as Revolution lists them: one year for Eaton and OX Offroad, five years for ARB.

Does the warranty transfer if I sell my Jeep?

No. It applies only to the original retail purchaser.
