About Tuffy Security Products

Tuffy began in 1989 after Shawn Gregory, then a teenager, had his Jeep Wrangler broken into at a trailhead. He built a locking wooden console box, friends asked for their own, and the company grew from there, first serving CJ and Wrangler owners and later other SUVs and pickups. It added a professional line for law enforcement vehicles in 2008. Bestop bought Tuffy in 2016, and the two are now sister companies; Tuffy's current contact address is in Westminster, Colorado.

Tuffy's boxes are steel with TIG-welded tab-loc construction and an electro-bonded epoxy powder coat, and they use Tuffy's patented Pry-Guard locking system. Most products are vehicle-specific and designed to bolt in with basic tools, with a smaller range of universal lockboxes, portable safes and bed drawers.

What we carry from Tuffy Security Products

Most of our Tuffy listings are vehicle-specific: console safes that drop into the factory console, underseat lockboxes and drawers, locking cubby covers, tailgate lockboxes and security enclosures, glove boxes, hood locks, door lockers and overhead consoles. Many come in a keyed lock or a push-button combination lock version. We also carry universal and compact lockboxes, portable safes, laptop and electronic device lockboxes, a conceal carry tote, the Tacoma truck bed lockbox, heavy duty and tactical gear drawers for beds and cargo areas, and the mounting kits, risers and divider kits that go with them. Fitment covers the Jeep CJ, Wrangler YJ, TJ, JK and JL, Gladiator, classic and current Bronco, Tacoma, Tundra, FJ Cruiser, F-150, Super Duty, Silverado, Sierra, Ram, Colorado and Canyon.

How to choose

Keyed or combination: Many Tuffy boxes are sold in a keyed version and a push-button combination version. A combination lock means no key to lose; a keyed lock is the simpler choice if several drivers share the vehicle and a key.

Match your console style: Console safes are built around the factory console, and some trucks offer more than one, such as flow-thru, sliding tray, standalone or wireless charging pad consoles. Check which console your trim has before ordering.

Match cab and seat: Underseat lockboxes come in full length and 2/3 length versions, some for trucks with a factory subwoofer, and they are specific to the cab. On Wranglers, the underseat drawers split by flip seat and non-flip seat.

Steel versus aluminum: Tuffy's warranty gives steel products lifetime coverage against defects but aluminum products one year. Check the listing for material if long-term coverage matters to you.

Look after the coating: The coating and rust are excluded from Tuffy's warranty. Touch up chips on boxes that live in the bed or tailgate, where they see weather and road salt.

Lead times & shipping

NVMOS dropships Tuffy orders from the brand or its distributor. In-stock parts usually leave in 1-3 business days, and parts stocked at the manufacturer take about 1-2 weeks. Console safes, cubby covers, glove boxes and small lockboxes ship by parcel carrier. Steel boxes are heavy for their size, and large bed drawers and gear drawers come in big boxes that can ship by truck freight, which may add a few days and need someone to receive them. We send tracking as soon as we have it.

Tuffy Security Products warranty

Tuffy warrants its products against defects in material and workmanship under normal use, excluding the coating. Tuffy's warranty document for its recreational line says steel products are covered for as long as the original owner has the vehicle the part is installed in, and Tuffy describes this as a limited lifetime warranty. Aluminum products carry one year from the original owner's purchase date. Parts Tuffy does not make are covered by their own manufacturer. Tuffy repairs or replaces defective material at its discretion. Rust, the coating, installation, service and downtime costs, abuse such as fire or wreckage, misuse, neglect, not following instructions, repairs by unauthorized people and use for something the product was not meant for are not covered. Products bought on auction or bid sites, closeout and open-box items from third parties, and special order or custom products are excluded. Claims need proof of purchase.
