Old Man Emu

Old Man Emu is ARB's suspension brand, started in Australia in 1976 and owned by ARB since 1988. OME builds matched shock and spring systems for touring and loaded 4x4s, so the truck rides well with gear on board rather than just sitting taller.

Based in: Australia (sold in the US through ARB USA) · Warranty: 3 years, unlimited miles; 1 year or 25,000 miles on wear items · Lead time: In-stock parts typically ship in 24-48 hours; some items are special order

About Old Man Emu

Old Man Emu began in 1976 and became part of ARB in 1988. The name comes from the emu, a bird that stays steady over rough ground at speed, which is the point of the suspension. OME tests its spring and shock combinations in the Australian outback and sells them as tuned systems rather than loose parts meant only to add lift.

What we carry from Old Man Emu

NVMOS carries OME shocks and struts (BP-51 bypass, MT64 and Nitrocharger Plus), coil and leaf springs, complete Nitro Plus, MT64 and BP-51 kits, upper control arms, steering dampers and the bushings, shackles and fit kits that go with them.

Fitment covers the Toyota Tacoma, 4Runner, Tundra, Land Cruiser, FJ Cruiser, Lexus GX, Jeep Wrangler, Gladiator, Ford Ranger and Bronco.

How to choose

  • Start with load. OME springs come in light, medium and heavy rates; pick by the weight you carry every day (bumper, winch, drawers, rooftop tent), not by the lift number.
  • Pick the shock tier. Nitrocharger Plus is OME's heavy-gauge twin-tube shock, MT64 is a large-body aluminum monotube with digressive valving that sheds heat on long rough roads, and BP-51 is OME's bypass shock that adjusts on the vehicle.
  • Buy a kit when you can. The kits pair springs and shocks that OME has already matched, and each kit listing shows exactly what's in the box.
  • Check the notes. Some parts need a specific fit kit, apply only to certain trims or KDSS-equipped trucks, or are valved for a lift range. Those notes are on each listing.

Lead times & shipping

In-stock Old Man Emu parts typically ship in 24-48 hours. Some items are special order through ARB USA and take longer, and coil springs and full kits ship in large boxes. See current lead times or call us for a specific part.

Old Man Emu FAQs

Is Old Man Emu the same company as ARB?

Yes. Old Man Emu is ARB's suspension brand. ARB bought OME in 1988, and ARB USA handles OME warranty claims in the US.

What's the difference between Nitrocharger Plus, MT64 and BP-51?

Nitrocharger Plus is OME's heavy-gauge twin-tube shock. MT64 is a large-body aluminum monotube with digressive valving, built to shed heat on long rough roads. BP-51 is OME's bypass shock, and it adjusts on the vehicle.

How do I pick the right OME spring rate?

Choose by the weight your truck carries all the time, such as a steel bumper, winch, drawers or a rooftop tent. Light, medium and heavy rates are listed on each spring and kit.

How long is the Old Man Emu warranty?

ARB covers OME suspension for 3 years with unlimited miles for personal use. Wear items like bushes, shackles, pins and U-bolts are covered for 1 year or 25,000 miles.

How fast do Old Man Emu parts ship?

In-stock parts typically ship in 24-48 hours. Some items are special order through ARB USA and take longer, so check the product page or call us for a current estimate.

Do I need extra parts to install OME suspension?

Some shocks and coilovers need a vehicle fit kit, and some lifts call for spacers or other parts. Each listing notes what's required, and kit listings show what's in the box.
