more-frame-plates-front-72-86-cj
M.O.R.E. Front Frame Plates - Jeep CJ 1972-1986

The stock CJ frame was never famous for its stiffness, and the front section takes a beating once you add bigger tires, a winch or a heavy bumper. These M.O.R.E. front frame plates are a weld-on fix: a pair of 3/16" steel plates that sit on the outside of the frame rails and add real strength where the factory design comes up short.

Each plate runs from the front bumper area back past the first body mount outrigger. They are cut to follow the contour of the CJ frame, and the holes come already punched so they line up with the frame instead of making you lay everything out by hand.

Fitment covers the 1972-1986 Jeep CJ. On 1976-1986 frames they go on as designed; M.O.R.E. notes that 1972-1975 frames can take them with minor modifications, so plan a little extra fitting time on the earlier Jeeps.

This is a welding job, not a bolt-on. Strip the frame to clean metal where the plates land, clamp them tight, and stitch-weld in sections to keep heat and distortion under control. If you are not comfortable laying structural welds, have a fab shop do it. Pair them with the matching rear plates if you want the whole frame covered.

M.O.R.E. has been building Jeep parts in Delta, Colorado since 1978, when Chris Overacker started the company in his home garage. Parts are designed in 3D CAD, cut on Mazak lasers and welded by certified welders, all in-house in the USA.

Questions on fitment?
